Nightlife centres on Kungsportsavenyn, where the stylish ‘Lounge’ bar (No.5) has champagne and cocktails and the five-floored bar and club Nivå (No.9). Otherwise, try well-established Valand (Vasagatan 41), which has a restaurant, dance club and mini casino.

Dubliners, across the moat at Östra Hamngatan 50, regularly features live music, or you can catch a band at Sticky Fingers (Kaserntorget 7) or in the legendary jazz club Nefertiti (Hvitfeldtsplatsen 6). Gothenburg’s largest dancefloor is at Trädgår’n (Nya Allén), while trend-conscious cocktail swiggers can be found at Vasastan (Viktoriagatan 2A).
